Cracker Replacement

Cracker Replacement:

There are a few ways to attach the cracker (popper) to the fall of a whip. These are the two ways we use depending on the thickness/weight of the fall.

For Heavy Falls:

Begin by opening the loop on the cracker and slide it onto the end of the fall about 1/4".

Tie a half hitch around the fall using the cracker.

Pull tight. The end may be trimmed but it is not necessary.

For Lighter Fall:

Begin by opening the loop on the cracker and slide it onto the end of the fall as shown.

Begin as if tying an overhand knot in the end of the fall but pull only the cracker through the loop as shown.

Pull tight and trim the end of fall. If the end of the fall is not trimmed, friction will cause the knot to untie when the whip is cracked.
